I didn’t plan this post at all. In fact, I had to use our leftovers for the pictures because I didn’t take pictures while cooking. I wasn’t expecting this to end up being a post-worthy recipe at all.
As I was making dinner last night I had an “I-wonder-if-this-will-work” moment. It worked great and I plan to make this easy homemade alfredo sauce without cream again and again.
I have experimented with making homemade alfredo sauce in the past. It always felt like such a hassle because I don’t normally buy cream.
It’s not convenient to buy cream when I only need part of the container and the rest needs to be used up quickly after opening. I don’t have a stock pile of recipes using cream because…well I don’t buy cream.
I was pleasantly surprised that I could make a delicious homemade alfredo sauce using evaporated milk in place of the traditional butter and cream.
This alfredo sauce only takes about 10 minutes to make and can be done while your pasta is cooking. It turned out creamy and much more flavorful than the store bought kind. No more jars of pre-made alfredo sauce for us!
