Make your own lip balm with just 5 natural ingredients!

I am excited to tell you after lots of testing and playing with formulas, I have created a natural lip balm that I am proud of.

This nourishing lip balm blends soothing oils without using artificial ingredients or preservatives. It will soften your lips and leave them feeling moisturized.

The formula is firm so you don’t have to worry about it melting in your purse on hot days. The lip balm leaves a very thin, non-greasy barrier on your lips to keep moisture in while keeping elements out so you don’t have to keep re-applying.

How to Quickly Relieve Cold Symptoms in Children

September 11, 2014 By Dawn Leave a Comment

My kids (ages 8 and almost 3) were both home with me all summer. Then they returned to school and daycare in mid-August. Just one week after my youngest returned to daycare, she was sick with a cold. Needless to say, I wanted to relieve her cold symptoms quickly and keep the rest of our family from getting sick.

Next time your kids come home from school or daycare with a cold, try these tips to naturally and quickly relieve cold symptoms in children.

I quickly started feeling the initial signs of a cold too — not surprising since my daughter is always in my face, on my lap, and in my arms. This started on a Friday evening and we had the long Labor Day weekend to snuggle and get better. [Read more…] about How to Quickly Relieve Cold Symptoms in Children

7 Reasons Why I Cloth Diaper & Why You Should Consider it too!

March 17, 2014 By Dawn Leave a Comment

You may not have even considered cloth diapers as an option for you baby. Here are 7 great reasons why plus answers to questions you may be asking yourself.

Today I am excited to welcome Brittany from Equipping Godly Women as my first guest poster. I personally have never tried using cloth diapers, but I know Brittany uses them. In fact, she jumped at the idea of writing a post about cloth diapering for this site to share this information with all of us. Thank you, Brittany!

When I decided to cloth diaper, I didn’t know anyone else who cloth diapered as well. Reactions ranged from: “Well, I would never do it, but if you want to, more power to you” to “That’s disgusting.” In other words, I didn’t have a whole lot of support. But the more I researched cloth diapers, the more I knew that they were the right choice, even if they aren’t the norm. You’ll have to decide for yourself what is best for your family, but here are my reasons why I chose to cloth diaper.

What are Parabens? Should you Avoid Them?

June 24, 2013 By Dawn Leave a Comment

There is no question that most of us are being exposed to long-term, low-dose levels of parabens daily.

There is no question that most of us are being exposed to long-term, low-dose levels of parabens daily in our skin care, but what are parabens?

After a quick look around my house I found the following products containing parabens:

  • My entire daily facial skin care routine (cleanser, day cream with SPF, moisturizer, eye cream, night serum)
  • Cosmetics (mineral powder foundation, loose powder, mineral cheek and eye colors)
  • Body wash and body lotion – use all over body
  • Baby wash and baby lotion – use all over body
  • Sun screen for me and my kids – use all over body
  • Lip balm – use multiple times a day
  • Diaper cream – used on baby’s sensitive areas as needed
