You can make your own homemade cheesy garlic biscuits and they are healthier than the baking mix variety. I had been a long time user of pre-made biscuit mix due to the convenience. Because of that, it took me several attempts to get this made-from-scratch biscuit recipe just how I wanted it.
Who needs baking mix?
These biscuits end up being a light brown color because of the whole wheat flour. I love adding whole grains to my family’s diet while reducing processed foods whenever possible.
Biscuits make a fun addition to a meat and veggie dinner. The kids love them. They are also great with sausage gravy on a cool day.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour

- 1.25 cups milk
Instructions:
1. Mix flour, baking soda, garlic and salt.
2. Add melted butter to flour mixture and mix with a fork until well blended and crumbly.
3. Add cheese and milk and stir until all batter is moist.
4. Drop by spoon full onto a greased cookie sheet. Makes 12 good-sized biscuits.
5. Bake at 450 for about 10 minutes. You will notice the tips turning golden brown. After removing from the oven the bottoms will also be a nice golden brown.
I chose to serve these biscuits with sausage gravy.
