You can follow your favorite blogs without remembering to visit the blog each week or missing a new post in your Facebook feed. There are actually several options for how to follow your favorite blogs.
I am often asked what blogs I follow. I follow quite a few business, lifestyle, and healthy living blogs.
Today I am sharing my current top six favorite healthy living blogs along with talking about 5 ways for how to follow your favorite blogs.
My Favorite Healthy Living Blogs
As I was going through the list of healthy loving blogs I love, I realized I had several top choices that were written by someone named Katie. So for fun, I have separated this list into blogs by bloggers named Katie and blogs by bloggers not named Katie.
Blogs by bloggers named Katie
Chocolate Covered Katie – This Katie posts lots of healthy dessert recipes including pies, brownies, and donuts. When I want make a dessert to take to work or to have as a special family treat, this is usually the first place I go. She also has healthy recipes for breakfast and dinner, as well. Her oatmeal chocolate fudge bars have been a big hit whenever I make them.
Kitchen Stewardship – This Katie posts a large variety of kitchen and green living tips. Her family has also tried just about every natural sunscreen there is. She even teaches kids to cook in her course Kids Cook Real Food.
Wellness Mama – This Katie posts on well-researched health topics. If I have a mild health concern about me or my family or a question about an ingredient, I will search this site for answers because I know she does her research and interviews professionals. She also has a podcast called The Healthy Moms Podcast.
Blogs by bloggers NOT named Katie
Bren Did – Bren posts lots of natural cleaning recipes. If I want to try making a new cleaning product, this is the first place I will go. She researches the ingredients she uses to make sure she is creating a healthy product for her family. One of my favorites is her natural room refreshing spray.
Good Cheap Eats – Jessica posts lots of delicious recipes that are also affordable. She has to feed 8 people! I found her Whole30 recipe index helpful when I was going through my Whole30 challenge.
The Humbled Homemaker – Erin posts lots of homemaking tips and encouragement for families who want to make healthy choices while living frugally.
How to Follow your Favorite Blogs
Bloglovin’
This is my favorite way to keep up with recent blog posts from the blogs I follow. This allows me to see all new blog posts from bloggers I follow all in one place.
Simply create an account at Bloglovin.com. Then you can search for your favorite blogs by blog name or blog url to follow them. This will add all of those blogs’ new posts to your Bloglovin’ feed so you only have to go to one place to see what your favorite bloggers have posted since you last checked your Bloglovin’ feed.
There is also a free Bloglovin’ app that I use on my phone.
Facebook Notifications
With the Facebook smart feed you may not see everything your favorite bloggers post. You have a few options to make sure you see more of the posts you want to see.
When you are on a blog’s Facebook page, there is a “follow” button next to the “like” button. When you click the follow button, it will give you a drop down menu with more options.
From this drop down you can choose to turn on notifications. Then you can click the edit icon to determine if you want notifications for all posts, events, and/or live videos. These notifications will show up with other notifications in the Earth icon in the top bar when you are logged in to Facebook.
You can also select “see first” in your news feed. In this case you won’t have the extra notifications, but you will see these posts earlier in your news feed.
Simply interacting with posts from your favorite blogs will help you to see their posts more often in your news feed. Facebook wants to show you what you want to see. You can show Facebook what you want by commenting and liking posts you want to see more of.
This tends to be where bloggers get a little more personal than they do on other platforms. You may get to see more behind-the-scenes types of updates. It is fun to see that the blogger is a real person.
Twitter Lists
Not all bloggers are active on Twitter, but if Twitter is a platform you enjoy, you can organize the people you follow by using Twitter lists.
To create a list, when you are on your own profile click on Lists in the menu bar. In the next screen click on Create New List in the side bar. Give your list a name and make sure you select the option to keep your list private so everybody doesn’t get a notification when you add them to your list.
You can easily add people to your list from the list of people you are already following by clicking the 3 dots next to the Follow button. That will pull up an option to add or remove from lists. Then check the box next to the list you just created.
Then when you want to only see tweets from that list of bloggers, go to your profile and click on lists in the menu bar. Then click the list you created and you will see a feed that only includes tweets from people on that list.
Email Newsletters
Probably the best way to be in a blogger’s inner circle is to be on their email list. If the blogger sends out regular newsletters, that is a great way to keep up with recent posts, possibly behind-the-scenes updates, links to other useful resources the blogger thinks you’ll enjoy, and links to follow the blogger on social media.
It doesn’t matter if you follow your favorite bloggers by using Bloglovin’, Facebook notifications, Instagram, Twitter lists, email newsletters, or something else. What matters is that you find a method that works for you so reading blogs is more enjoyable.
